Chicken Nuggets and Fingers

As a parent, breaded chicken of all kinds has come to be a part of my daily life because my daughter lives off of them. During the pandemic, as many parents of toddlers around the US found out, there was a shortage of groceries that made it almost impossible to buy the coveted chicken nuggets from the market.

So we decided to make our own! They don’t look like animals, but we will try a video coming soon, that we will shape into animals! Either way, it became a family activity and a healthy, delicious dinner for the whole family. It is also a huge price saver to make your own. This chicken nugget recipe will be a great weekend activity you can do with your kids that will last all week!

Chicken Nugget and Finger Ingredients

  • 1 lb of raw chicken (white or breast meat is your choice)
  • 1 pt of bread crumbs
  • 2 cups parmesan cheese
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • Salt (to taste)
  • Pepper (to taste)

To start you should prep all of the ingredients for your chicken nuggets and fingers.

Prepping your ingredients ahead of time is a key way to make the cooking process easier because it will already be done as you follow the recipe.

  • Break and beat the eggs in their own bowl
  • Rinse and clean the chicken
  • If you want chicken nuggets rather than fingers, cut the chicken to the desired size.
  • Measure out the flour and put it into its own bowl
  • Measure out the parmesan cheese into its own bowl

Now that you are prepped and ready it is time to start putting your chicken nuggets and fingers together!

  • Preheat the oven to 375 F.
  • Dip the chicken into the egg and then into the bread crumbs. Make sure both sides are fully coated.
  • Place the coated chicken onto a sheet pan or plate.
  • Next, heat the oil.
  • While the oil is heating up, cut the garlic cloves or use a garlic mincer if you don’t plan to take the garlic out of the oil once it is cooked. (That will be your choice depending on how much garlic you prefer to cook with.)
  • Once the oil is shimmering and hot, add the garlic to the oil and cook until the garlic turns golden brown.
  • If you want the garlic out, take it out once it turns brown.
  • Cover a baking sheet with a light coating of oil spray, or spread the oil with a paper towel.
  • Then, coat the baking sheet with bread crumbs.
  • Next, lightly fry the chicken on both sides.
  • Take the chicken out of the pan when each piece turns golden brown and put it onto the baking sheet.
  • Add salt and pepper to taste before baking at 375 F for 7 minutes and flip the chicken when you get halfway.
  • Last, take it out, let it cool, and enjoy!
