Margarita Pizza

If you are looking for a light, clean, and delicious way to enjoy a pizza for dinner, our Margarita pizza is the option for you. It is inexpensive to make, unlike when you purchase it at a restaurant, and it is a lighter version of your normal pizza.

No sugary sauce, or heavy cheese layers here. Don’t get me wrong, traditional pizza always has a special place in my heart, and we have done and will do many varieties of pizza, but this classic is one of my favorites!

Margarita Pizza Ingredients

  • 1 raw dough (from the pizza place or supermarket)
  • 1 medium ball of fresh mozzarella cheese
  • Basil (to taste)
  • 2 Heirloom tomatoes
  • Parmesan cheese (to taste)
  • Salt (to taste)
  • Pepper (to taste)
  • Drizzle of olive oil

To start you should prep all of the ingredients for your Margarita Pizza.

Prepping your ingredients ahead of time is a key way to make the cooking process easier because it will be already done as you follow the recipe.

  • Spray/coat a baking sheet in olive oil (Choosing a round or rectangle baking sheet is your choice.)
  • Cut the tomato into slices
  • Shred the mozzarella cheese
  • Cut/rip the basil

Now that you are prepped and ready, it is time to start putting your Margarita Pizza together!

  • Preheat the oven to 550 F.
  • Stretch out the pizza dough and lay it over the oiled baking sheet.
  • Bake the dough until it is light brown.
  • Poke holes in it to release the hot air that builds up in the crust.
  • Cover the pizza with sliced tomatoes.
  • Cover the pizza with fresh mozzarella.
  • Sprinkle basil over the pizza.
  • Drizzle olive oil over the pizza.
  • Bake the pizza at 550 F until the cheese melts and browns.

This recipe is simple, inexpensive, and fun to make. It can be a light dinner and if the kids want to help, it can become a family cooking activity also! For younger kids, you can do the cutting, but they can help decorate the pizza! Older kids can help with the whole process. Learning to build a love of food and cooking at a young age is so important and this will provide quality family time as well as a yummy dinner!
